FOX 10 and weathercaster Dave Munsey started the Valley’s first drowning prevention program more than 26 years ago in response to the alarming number of children who drown each summer.
“Just You Watch your Kids Around Water” has saved thousands of lives – and it’s all about awareness. During each and every of Dave Munsey’s weathercasts, he says, “just you watch your kids around water” to keep drowning prevention at the forefront of everyone’s mind.
FOX 10 also makes fun water-safety coloring books for children and sponsors an awareness campaign and every summer talking to parents about the importance of always – ALWAYS – keeping an eye on children as you play around water. And the program has been very successful; in 2006, the Valley celebrated the first summer season without a drowning!
Keep coming back for water-safety events created by FOX 10.

Plan Ahead Events of Scottsdale, a full-service event management and marketing company, will hold its grand opening on Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the Mondrian Hotel to benefit The Real Gift Foundation (TRGF). The event will raise money for TRGF through a suggested donation of $25 per ticket and a silent auction. Plan Ahead Events of Scottsdale is teaming up with TRGF to make this a Grand Opening With A Cause! TRGF is dedicated to providing the necessary aid and assistance to, and for, children of homeless families so that they may better handle the challenges their lives bring and to give them the ability to face the future with hope, anticipation and optimism. TRGF is committed to impacting the lives of the over 15,000 homeless children attending schools in Maricopa County in direct, positive and meaningful ways. Each holiday season, TRGF provides thousands of homeless children and their families with Thanksgiving meals and holiday gifts. Last year, TRGF fed over 21,000 people a Thanksgiving feast including turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and more. Through partnerships with local businesses, TRGF is able to feed a family of 6 for just $25. This year, with the homeless population in Arizona increasing by 25%, the need for these meals is greater than ever. TRGF must raise nearly $100,000 to fulfill every request. TRGF will have representatives in attendance at the event to answer questions and accept donations to support the Thanksgiving program. For more information on the Grand Opening with a Cause, please visit www.paescottsdale-events.com or call 480-888-9050. Plan Ahead Events requests that attendees please RSVP by Nov. 15 to 480-888-9050.
