PHOENIX (AP) - An Oct. 15 sentencing is scheduled in federal court in Phoenix for a man convicted of a domestic violence killing on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation in eastern Arizona.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says a jury convicted 36-year-old Willard John of Cibecue (see-BEH'-cyoo) of second-degree murder on July 11.
John was convicted of the March 2012 stabbing and throat-slashing death of a woman who was the mother of John's two young children.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, John cut his own throat after the killing but survived his injuries.
John could be sentenced to a maximum penalty of life in prison.
