PHOENIX (AP) - Federal judges plan to honor U.S. District Judge Robert C. Broomfield at a special memorial session at the Phoenix federal courthouse next week.

Broomfield was born in Detroit and served as an Air Force pilot before earning his law degree from the University of Arizona in 1961.

He is survived by his wife and two adult children.

The memorial is set for 3 p.m. on July 23 at the Sandra J. O'Connor Courthouse.
