PHOENIX (KSAZ) - He may have lost one of his four legs, but on Friday, a puppy thrown from a car near a west Phoenix apartment complex has a new forever home.

Timmy was thrown out of a car -- like trash -- left alone, crying and limping.

The Arizona Animal Welfare League took him in, but they couldn't save his front paw.

"We did discover the bones were shattered in his paw.  That's why we had to go ahead and amputate," said AAWL's Patti DuBois.

It doesn't look like Timmy even realizes he only has three legs.  Now he can't stop wagging his tail because he's found a forever home.

"I woke up this morning to the news that he's still up for adoption and nobody made an inquiry to take him and I thought, how could somebody not take him?" said Pat Clark.

So she made sure she was one of the first people in line when Timmy went up for adoption Friday morning.

The first thing she did was take him to her job so the pup could meet her partner.

"This morning, I thought it was a crazy idea, but now, as you can see, it doesn't matter," said Lesa Barnes.

Timmy's new owners say they dont' know how lucky he is.  He's moving into a new home where dogs are treated like kings and queens.

"I'm going to have to sleep on the couch so they can have the bed," said Barnes.

Timmy will join two other dogs in the household and can look forward to a life of fetching and swimming.

"Gonna be play, play, play.. camping and riding in the boat," said Barnes.  "The other dog will love him too, so he'll have a good life."

Timmy is scheduled to have his sutures removed and after that, his owners say he can jump right into the pool for rehab.
