TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A man is hospitalized in critical condition after being shot by a Pima County sheriff's deputy.

Authorities say the shooting occurred Wednesday evening at a Tucson-area home when the man allegedly pointed a rifle at deputies, who had responded to the homeowner's call about an intruder.

Chief Deputy Chris Nanos says the homeowner called authorities after arriving home and finding an armed man inside the home.

According to Nanos, the homeowner had been notified by his alarm company about the activation of a motion sensor in the home.
