PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A young boy has died after being hit by a vehicle while riding his bike through the intersection of 27th Avenue and Broadway on Wednesday night.

Police say the 8-year-old boy failed to stop for a stop sign before he was hit around 9 p.m.

He was taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital in extremely critical condition and unfortunately died from his injuries on Thursday morning.

We're told the driver, a woman in her 30's, stayed at the scene and didn't show any signs of impairment.

The case is still under investigation.
