PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities are investigating the discovery of a sealed funeral urn that was left in front of a Phoenix business.

Phoenix police say a vehicle pulled up to the gate of a business last Saturday afternoon near Tatum Blvd. and the Loop 101.

An unidentified person got out of the car and placed what is believed to be a sealed funeral urn in the grass and then drove away.

Police say it's unknown whose remains are in the urn or who the person responsible for its care may be.

The only identifying marks are from Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Police say the name and identifying numbers on the urn have been obliterated.

Investigators say they would like to identify who the urn belongs to so that it can be returned to the owner.

Anyone with information concerning who the owner of the urn may be is encouraged to contact the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
