PHOENIX (KSAZ) - The owners of the dogs who died at a Gilbert boarding facility want to know what is going on.

They want criminal charges filed against the staff of the facility, but they say it's not clear if that is going to happen.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio cautioned anyone involved in the case, including the operators of the boarding facility, not to jump to conclusions.

"We have worked on crimes, all different types of crimes for months, and months, and months. This is a little complex, you just can't go out and solve the crime in two weeks when you have evidence to pursue," said Arpaio.

One piece of the investigation is to interview the people who were supposed to be watching over the dogs when 20 of them died.

We are talking about Austin Flake, Sen. Jeff Flake's son and his wife.

Last week Arpaio said they were trying to get in touch with Austin Flake, here's what he said. "I'm not going to answer that, since I never lie to the media, let's put it the FBI way, I'm not going to confirm or deny," he said.

FOX 10 asked him if they made efforts to get in touch with Austin Flake. Arpaio confirmed they had.

When asked whether the efforts were successful, "not going to comment right now, but the facts will come out very soon," said Arpaio.
