Police: Body found near missing woman's car

Posted: Updated:

MEDFORD, N.Y. (AP) -- Police on Long Island say a female body has been found in a wooded area near where a missing 21-year-old woman's car was discovered abandoned.

Police say a volunteer search party found the body off of Camden Court in Medford and called 911 shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday. The medical examiner is working to determine the victim's identity.

Sarah Goode, of Medford, was reported missing by her family on Sunday. Police say the medical technician and mother of a 4-year-old daughter watched a movie on TV with friends Friday night. It's unclear what happened to her afterward.

Her sister called police after the family hadn't heard from Goode for about two days. About an hour later, police found Goode's 1999 gray BMW parked near some woods.
