DPS auctions feature airplanes dating back to WWII

DETROIT (WJBK) - Detroit Public Schools will be holding an auction of surplus and obsolete aircrafts, including a T-39A North American Sabreliner Jet. The final auction is on June 19 and will feature vintage aircraft engines, propellers, and more dating back to WWII.

The auction is part of a series of weekly auctions that began in October to sell excess items, such as surplus or obsolete kitchen equipment, outdated metal shop equipment, safes, automotive engines, obsolete pianos, kilns, and more.

Since October, the district has conducted approximately 25 online auctions to sell surplus and obsolete items. To date, these auctions have netted the district in excess of $372,000.
