Phoenix woman facing manslaughter charge

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix woman is accused of reckless manslaughter in a fatal crash last weekend.

Michelle Nicole Ayers had her initial court appearance Monday and her bond was set at $7,500. She doesn't have an attorney yet.

Phoenix police say 47-year-old Christopher James Kutcher died early Saturday after his SUV was hit from behind by an alleged drunk driver.

Police say tests on Ayers showed a blood-alcohol level than three times the state's legal limit.

Authorities say Ayers' vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed upon impact and Kutcher's SUV hit a block wall and a tree.

Ayers has a status conference scheduled Friday and a preliminary hearing on June 17.
