Man, woman charged after breaking into freight cars

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man and a woman have been charged with burglarizing several freight cars early Friday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, police said.

Michael Williams, 33, of the 10700 block of South LaSalle Street and Jasmine Gibson, 24, of the 5600 block of South Bishop Street, are both facing one count of felony burglary, among other charges, police said in a statement.

The two were arrested about 2 a.m. in the 2400 block of West 25th Street after officers saw them breaking into freight cars, police said.

Williams was also charged with:

  • 2 counts of misdemeanor resisting an officer
  • 1 count of misdemeanor criminal damage to property
  • 1 count of misdemeanor criminal trespass to property

Gibson was also charged with:

  • 1 count of misdemeanor criminal damage to property
  • 1 count of misdemeanor criminal trespass to land
