MESA, Ariz. - A Mesa family thought they had won a raffle to meet a mystery celebrity at Bass Pro Shop on Wednesday, but they got an even bigger surprise -- their Navy dad.

"We were taking bets.. is it going to be Tim Allen?  Is it going to be a star from Country Thunder?" said Liz Calhoon.

Family members could only guess who they were going to meet.  8-year-old James Phillips thought for sure he was going to meet someone famous.

"Tim McGraw... well, yeah, he's a country singer," he said.

His father walked through the door instead.

For the first few moments, the family sat in shock, but when reality set in, no one was more happier than James.  With tears in his eyes, he held his dad in a long embrace.

"Better than Tim McGraw," he said.

This time, his father won't be leaving again.

Sean Phillips is looking forward to actually living at home with his wife and kids.

"I've really been gone for eight years.  I haven't been home for a while," he said.

"It's the first time he's come home to stay," said Michelle Phillips.

"Everybody is so proud of Sean and we are so happy that he is home," said Calhoon.

But Phillips still wants to serve, just closer to home.

"Actually, I would like to switch this for a local police department badge," he said.

But before that happens, his son has other plans.

"I personally wanted to go fishing."

Phillips was recently stationed in Washington state.  Before, he'd only been home with his family for weeks at a time.  Now he's home for good.
