Off duty firefighters rescue woman from burning home

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. -

While heading home from a shift, two Atlanta firefighters jumped into action as duty called again.

Sergeant Chris Batson and Sergeant Marcus Van Dorn were tired and carpooling home for the day.

As they passed Key Road in SE Atlanta, they saw smoke billowing from a home and automatically skill and instinct kicked in.

As they walked in the front door, fire was crawling along the walls and they heard a woman crying for help.

They managed to help the woman gather a few belongings and escorted her to safety.

Back up shortly arrived, the fire was quickly put to rest and the two firefighters continued on their way home.
