Young girl attacked by Warren neighbor's German shepherds

Posted: Updated:
WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) - A child is recovering after she was attacked by two dogs in Warren.

Four-year-old Brooklyn is covered in scars, stitches and bruises after she was attacked by the German shepherds. Her mother heard the screams from her house.

She says it was "terrifying."

"All I see is my baby. You know, life just flash right in front of me, them dogs just trying to rip her apart. You know what I'm saying? I don't want to relive the moment again, but it was very hard," says Latoyia King.

She came running from her house just two doors down. When she got there her daughter had already been rescued by another neighbor. That's when she says the dogs attacked her, biting her back and arms.

"How did they have time enough to attack twice?" King wonders.

The attack is under investigation by the City of Warren's Animal Control Unit.

Since the dogs are licensed and up-to-date on their shots they are allowed to stay on the property under quarantine in the garage for 10 days. The dogs' owner was instructed to observe and report their behavior.

"I just want the dogs to be removed. If it was a human that went over there and attacked they would-be in jail," says King.

The owner of the dogs was not able to be reached for comment.

According to Warren police the dogs have no history of violence and no other complaints are on the record.

A judge will decide the dogs' fate once the investigation is complete.
