Problem Solvers get help after neighbors complain of gas leak

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) - The Fox 2 Problem Solvers get results for a family and neighbors on Detroit's east side. DTE Energy crews were busy Saturday night fixing a gas leak. Those neighbors called Fox 2 after they reported a strong odor of gas on Yorkshire and they say nothing was being done.

They try to keep their east side detroit home beautiful, but Johney and Linda Driscoll say they can barely cut their grass without worrying something will happen.

"I'm afraid I'm going to get a call saying the house blew up," Johney told Fox 2.

Saturday, they were trying to make plans for their son's graduation, too afraid to even have people come over. The problem, some sort of gas leak neighbors say has been an issue for months. And they say, DTE has taken its time doing anything about it. The odor can be smelled all the way down the block. The family says DTE has been out multiple times. Crews reportedly told them the gas evaporates and no leaks were detected inside their home.

With one call from Fox 2, their troubles will hopefully be over soon. DTE came out within 45 minutes to assess the situation and begin work immediately.

Crews were still out Saturday at the time of our live report. They promised the problem will be fixed as soon as possible.
