Accident At Disneyland Temporarily Closes Ride

Posted: Updated:

The popular Disneyland ride, the Matterhorn, was closed, after an employee fell off the loading platform. Dozens of other employees could be seen checking out the ride, as visitors waited on line.

"We were almost to the front," said one teenager, "when they closed it, what a bummer!" Disney officials telling us over the phone that the employee, who is one of the female characters of the ride, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Checks on the Matterhorn's history show that the last employee injury happened in 1997.

On January of 1984, a 48 year old woman died, when she was thrown from a bobsled and struck by the next oncoming one. Her seatbelt was unbuckled.

The last big accident at the park took place on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a 22 year old from Gardena died. The ride was closed for some time for refurbishing.

Again, today's injuries are reported to be minor and the ride is expected to reopen today. Visitors we spoke to said they were not concerned about safety at the park rides.
