First On Fox: Police Release Video Of Suspect Who Allegedly Attacked, Robbed Woman

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

A Wynnefield woman is recovering at home tonight after being robbed and beaten by a teenager all over her cell phone.

The above surveillance video just came into Fox 29.

Police say it shows a woman attacked and robbed by a teen suspect.

Fox 29's Chris O'Connell is live at Southwest Detectives with the details.

According to authorities, the robbery happened early on Tuesday morning on the 1900 block of North 54th Street. Police say a 67-year-old woman was robbed inside her wig shop.

A teenager broke in and hit the woman before stealing her phone and some money, police say.

The victim is a longtime business owner of a local wig shop and a fixture around the community.

“She goes to dial the phone, he grabs her and tosses her, probably around 10 yards, into a glass case. At that point, she was obviously on the ground, he runs up to her, and begins punching and kicking her numerous times." Philadelphia Police Lieutenant John Walker said.

Police describe the suspect as a larger male, between 15-17 years old.

This is the second time the store has been robbed in recent days. Police believe the shop may have been robbed by the same suspect previously.

If you have any information, please contact Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS.
