Sarah's practically homemade samoa cookies

Get the recipe for practically homemade samoa cookies from Brenda Harger, owner of Sarah's Cake Decorating and Candy Supplies in Troy.

INGREDIENTS:

1 bag (9 ounces) Toasted Coconut
1 pound Peters buttery caramel
1 pound Merckens Milk Chocolate Coatings
Packaged Shortbread or Butter cookies

DIRECTIONS:

Pour toasted coconut into mixing bowl and set aside.
Melt 1 pound block caramel in safe glass bowl for 90 seconds on medium in microwave until flowing.
Stir until pourable and smooth.
For thinner caramel follow above directions and add 1 tablespoon water or milk to melted caramel and heat for 30 second intervals until flowing.
Dip front of cookie into melted caramel.
Dip front of cookie into toasted coconut.
Set aside on parchment paper.
Melt ½ pound Merckens Milk Chocolate Coatings in microwave safe bowl on medium for 1 minute.
Stir against side of bowl to melt.
If needed heat and stir at 30 second intervals until pourable.
Dip bottom of cookie into chocolate.
Place on parchment paper

OPTIONS:

Pour melted milk chocolate coatings into squeeze bottle.
Drizzle over top of cookie.

OR

Melt Merckens pastel colored coatings in microwave.
Using squeeze bottle drizzle holiday color over top of cookie/

YIELD:

The number of Samoa's yielded will depend on the size of the purchased cookie, the thickness of the caramel, and how much chocolate is drizzled
