Teenage Man Runs For City Council

Posted: Updated:

An eighteen-year-old California college student is doing something most students never do in their lifetime.

Devon Minnema is running for office, specifically the Dixon City Council.

The teen will run against two incumbents Dane Besneatte and Thom Bogue.

He feels the biggest issue with his town is employment. Mainly the fact that the town is trying to attract large businesses to the area instead of growing local, small businesses.

Minnema declares, "We need to have more local companies growing and expanding so people can have careers here without necessarily having to start or own their own business."

This isn't the first time Minnema has put himself out there politically.

At the age of thirteen he staged his own anti-tax protest and at fourteen he organized a tea party demonstration.
