Car Crashes Into Apartment, Catches Fire

(FOX 11 / CNS) A vehicle plowed into a Garden Grove apartment building today, injuring the driver and displacing 10 residents, according to authorities and witnesses.

The accident occurred in the 13700 block of Magnolia Street just after 1:00 a.m., a Garden Grove Fire Department dispatcher said. The driver was traveling southbound on Magnolia when his vehicle struck a power pole, then barreled  into an apartment, causing both the vehicle and the unit to catch fire, a news videographer reported from the scene. Eight adults and two children were displaced, according to the videographer.

The driver was the only person transported from the scene, the dispatcher said. A California Highway Patrol online incident log reported live power lines down at the scene, with Magnolia Street closed in both directions.
