Police: Driver fell asleep at the wheel, crashed into power pole

PHOENIX -

Crews worked to restore power to the area of 44th Street and University after a woman crashed into a pole on Tuesday morning.

Officials say the woman dropped off someone at the airport, fell asleep and hit a pole near the expressway.

The woman was not injured.

Power lines were down, causing SRP crews to turn off electricity as a precaution.

We're told power is still off for some places, while others have been restored.

University was shut down from 44th to 45th Street for a short time.
