PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

A 14-year-old girl is dead; her mother and three siblings including a 3-month-old baby are in critical condition after their west Phoenix apartment caught fire early Sunday morning.

Phoenix Police say that fire may have been intentionally set, and it could be related to a case of domestic violence.

Investigators say they now have a "person of interest" detained.

Police say they are treating this as a homicide.

That person of interest, who's name is not being released, is being questioned here at police headquarters tonight.

While the mother and 10 year old are in critical condition, the three year old and three month-old are in extremely critical but stable condition.

Investigators telling me the scene was traumatic for all first responders and witnesses.

People watched as firefighters busted down the door of the second floor apartment and carried out five unconscious family members, found together in a back bedroom: a 33-year-old mother and her four children, ages 14, 10, 3-years-old and 3-months-old.

The video from the scene is so disturbing we cannot show you all of it.

"I've never seen what I've seen before watching the firemen grab the little babies out of the house and hold the other little girl on their shoulders and walk away, it hurt man; it sucked because I can only picture my girls going through that I would hate to see that happen," said Vicente Gonzalez.

Firefighters say the fire started on the families second floor apartment in the marble creek apartments near 56th Avenue and McDowell, around 1 a.m.

14-year-old Rodolfo Gonzalez lives on the third floor, directly above where the fire started.

"I first woke up to screaming and like sounds of things exploding and popping," said Rodolfo Gonzalez.

He says he and friends helped rescue others, trapped on the second and third floors.

"They were passing us the kids through the second floor balcony on the porch," said Gonzalez

In all, 29 people were displaced.

Phoenix Police say that fire may have been intentionally set and could be related to a case of domestic violence.

Vicente Gonzales, who also escaped the fire, says he heard arguing.

"Earlier there was a woman next door to my apartment the apartment that burned down she was in an argument with her boyfriend husband they were in an argument to where it got really bad he said he was going to come back," he said.
