Most every man would agree, there's nothing like a good haircut and clean shave, the old fashioned kind from an old-school barber. There's a new shop that offers just that, and more.

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

A Phoenix woman's family says she was bitten by the family dog and bled to death before help arrived.

The 77-year-old victim, Nancy Newberry, lived at a home near 43rd Avenue and Greenway with her husband and daughter.

The husband, Dick Newberry says it was the daughter's dog -- a 4-year-old pit bull named Titan, who is responsible for all of this.

We're told that the dog had a history of aggression and biting people, but it never attacked anyone inside the home until Friday night.  That's when the husband says the dog just snapped and attacked his wife.

She was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Dick says his wife loved to spoil the three family dogs.  On Friday, he said she was giving Titan medicine wrapped in meat.  He says that's when the dog mauled Nancy -- biting her in the abdomen -- the very area she previously had an operation.

"It was just a puncture mark right here," said Dick while pointing to his abdomen.  "And boy, the blood was coming right out of there like you couldn't believe... and I grabbed a towel  right away and put it there.. and she just slumped to the floor."

Paramedics arrived at the home shortly after, but she didn't make it.  She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

"The doctor down there working on her literally just said she just literally bled out," said Dick.

Dick says Nancy was taking a blood thinner for a medical condition that may have contributed to how fast she bled out.

The medical examiner still has to determine the exact cause of death.

Nancy leaves behind two adult children, her husband of 57 years, six grand and great grandchildren.  The couple danced in the Greater Phoenix Swing Dance Club and Nancy served as a board member for many years.

"Something like this.. out of the blue.. just really knocks the slacks out from under you," said Dick.  "For one thing, she was my whole life.. we spent 57 years together and I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do now.. I just take it a day at a time."

Titan was quarantined Friday night at the home and then the family took him to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.  They requested that the dog be put down.  It was euthanized on Saturday.
