PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

Thanks to the valley's warm weather, scorpions are out early this year.

Poison control has taken over 200 reports of scorpion stings.

At least one local pest control company said they are receiving a lot more calls from homeowners concerned about scorpions in and around their home.

"Scorpions are conducive to the area because we have other insects living here," said Dave Burns with Burns Pest Elimination.

Exterminators use black lights to find the scorpions that come out from hiding during the warm summers months.

"The nighttime temperatures don't cool anything off from the 80 degree days, so the insects think this is an early summer... The scorpions are moving in much earlier than we have seen in the past years," he said.

Scorpions can find their way into your home through any crack in walls or spaces in doorways.

Burns said that families, especially those with children, should call a professional as soon as they notice the poisonous scoprions around their home.

"If you see one, there is more, and you should seek a professional for help on that. Most people create some kind of regular maintenance cycle to stop them from invading the home. If you don't have that, chances are you're going to have problems this year," said Burns.

Pest control companies are also getting calls about ants, crickets, and roaches.
