Bears agree to terms with DT Collins and QB Palmer

LAKEFOREST, IL – The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with DT Nate Collins andQB Jordan Palmer on one-year contracts.

         Collins has appeared in 27 games with two starts over four seasons withJacksonville (2010-11) and Chicago (2012-13), recording 34 tackles – including1.5 sacks and two tackles for losses – two pass break ups and a fumblerecovery. In 2013, Collins appeared in five games for the Bears with twostarts, recording a career-high 13 tackles, one sack and three quarterback hitsbefore being placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury.

         The 6-2, 296-pound Collins entered the NFL with the New York Giants in 2010 asan undrafted free agent out of the University of Virginia.

         Palmer signed with the Bears in 2013 and spent the last nine weeks on theteam's active roster but did not appear in a regular season game. He alsoappeared in two preseason games – including one start – for the Bears lastseason completing 12 of 18 pass attempts for 116 yards and a touchdown for a103.0 passer rating.

         For his career, Palmer has appeared in four regular season contests forCincinnati during three seasons (2008-10) with the Bengals, completing 10-of-15passing attempts for 49 yards and two interceptions.

         The 6-5, 230-pound Palmer was originally selected by the Washington Redskins inthe sixth round (205th overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft out of UTEP.Palmer spent part of the 2012 season with Jacksonville but did not appear in agame for the Jaguars.
