LAKE IN THE HILLS, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A northwest suburban man and woman were growing marijuana in the home they shared, police said in announcing their arrests.

The McHenry County Sheriff's office said the two Lake in the Hills residents were charged with illegally growing cannabis after sheriff's Narcotics Task Force concluded a month-long investigation by searching their home, a statement from the sheriff's office said.

The investigation into the "sale and cultivation of cannabis sativa plants" in the area was completed when Task Force members and Lake in the Hills police received permission to search the home in the 600 block of Willow Street, the statement said.

Inside, they found 9 cannabis sativa plants, 731 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a digital scale and $324 in cash, the statement said.

Alexandra J. Koza, 29; and Jeremy M. Christl, 31, both of the Willow Street address, are each charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis, and production of cannabis plants, according to police.

They were ordered held on $50,000 bonds each, with Christl next scheduled to appear in court in Woodstock on March 18, and Koza on April 4, according to police.
