The driver and passenger of a Ford SUV were killed when their vehicle plowed into a tree in Scottsdale.

The deadly crash happened at about Noon on Sunday on Scottsdale Road near McCormick Parkway.

A spokesperson for Scottsdale Police says the driver lost control, drove into the median and crashed into a tree on Scottsdale Road just north of McCormick Parkway.  The 46 year-old driver died on the scene, and three other people inside the SUV were taken to the hospital where a 63 year-old passenger also died..

The area was shut down until 5:15 p.m. as police investigated the deadly accident.  Officers have not released the cause of the crash but have said they were investigating speed or alcohol. The names of victims have not been released.
