PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

After close to 70 days without a drop of rain the valley of the sun is making up for it Saturday evening.

Rains were heavy in areas including a desert wash in Cave Creek that couldn't handle the water. The wash over flowed sending a torrent of water into the street. Cave Creek was taking the brunt of the storm where a hailstorm covered the ground white for a brief time.

the storm also packed a punch in Mesa where this afternoon it uprooted and knocked over half a dozen trees.

"It was raining and then rain stopped and then all wind blowing like crazy wind stopped then down pour yeah with window knocked out basically being flooded with water," said Daniel Rhoades.

"I was not expecting this type of micro burst to come through," said Bruce Haemmerle.

Tom Campbell who also lives at the complex hit by the storm said he saw a hot tub that landed in the parking lot. Campbell said the storm felt like a mini tornado. "Almost ground zero maybe one point five maybe," said Campbell.
