Newark police says a hiker found the skeletal remains of a missing man on a trail by the University Of Delaware Friday afternoon.
The hiker found the remains of John Dohms, a retired UD professor, who was reported missing since September 2012.
The discovery of the remains occurred at approximately 4:30pm when the hiker, who was searching off trail for shed deer antlers, saw the remains in a heavily wooded area by Fremont Road. The hiker contacted the police who conducted a search of the area.
Dohms suffered from dementia but the cause of his death is still under investigation.
