A string of bible-themed blockbusters is bringing Hollywood and the holy word together again. Mel Gibson shocked theatergoers and critics alike, and attracted accusations of anti-Semitism with his graphic retelling of the last hours of Jesus Christ. Still, "The Passion of the Christ" emerged victorious from the hailstorm of controversy surrounding it to become a blockbuster hit and the highest grossing independent film of all time.

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Actor Diogo Morgado doesn't care if he's type-cast after taking on the role of Jesus, again. He stars in the new movie, Son of God, hitting theaters on Friday. "Long after I’m gone, this is my legacy. It is an honor, a privilege," said Morgado.

Born and raised in Portugal, Morgado first appeared on TV at the age of 15 and it happened "by accident."

"I was auditioning out of fun. I had never been to acting school and suddenly I was in a show. It was fun," said Morgado.

The 'Son of God' - directed by Christopher Spender and produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey- tells the life story of Jesus.

“What I’m really proud of is that this is the ultimate, greatest love story ever. The story of Jesus was love, compassion, altruism; be kind to one another. Regardless of what he believed. There are lots of atheists reaching out to me saying I don’t have a specific belief in anything but something you did touched me inside," said Morgado.

Morgado played the Christian leader in the hit History Channel epic mini-series 'The Bible.'

The 'Son of God' hits theaters on Friday, February 28.

Kent Brantly always wanted to be a medical missionary, and he took the work seriously, spending months treating a steady stream of patients with Ebola in Liberia. Now Brantly is himself a patient, fighting for his own survival in an isolation unit on the outskirts of Monrovia, Liberia, after contracting the deadly disease. The Texas-trained doctor says he is "terrified" of the disease progressing further.
