Some Westland streets covered with dangerous ice

Posted: Updated:
WESTLAND, Mich. (WJBK) -

Residents on Caledonia Court in Westland feel angered and forgotten about after their street is the only one in the area that seems to have been left unplowed.

One neighbor tells FOX 2's Andrea Isom she has not seen a salt truck or plow truck drive down her street.

A FOX 2 crew drove around other residential neighborhoods which also appeared to be icy. They drove on the street where Mayor Bill Wild resides, which was also a icy mess.

"I always tell the guys that work for me is, 'Do my street last,' because a lot of residents will say, 'Your street's probably plowed.' If you come through our neighborhood right now where I'm at there's still ice on my streets, too," says Wild.

He says the City does not forget or neglect any roads, and believes Caledonia Court is a difficult area to plow because of the cul-de-sac, narrow roads and allowed parking on both sides of the street.

He encourages the residents with ice on their streets to contact his office.

Westland declares a snow emergency and plows neighborhood streets only if six inches or more of snow accumulates. That's only happened three times this winter.
