PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Legislature's Child Protective Services oversight committee is set to hear from the man Gov. Jan Brewer appointed to determine why more than 6,500 abuse and neglect reports received no response.

Charles Flanagan is scheduled to testify Monday morning on his work overseeing a special team charged with ensuring the children identified in the hotline calls are seen by social workers or police. He also is expected to report on his team's top-to-bottom review of CPS that was released last month.

Flanagan was named by Brewer to take over the child welfare agency after she made CPS a stand-alone department reporting directly to her two months after the ignored calls were discovered in November.

A report on how Texas runs its CPS agency also will be presented.
