DETROIT (WJBK) -- Cass Tech quarterback Jayru Campbell was arraigned Wednesday on charges stemming from the assault of a high school security guard last month.

Campbell, who appeared through a video feed and wearing his varsity jacket, was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and aggravated assault.

FOX 2's Roop Raj reports Chief Magistrate Millicent Sherman set bond at $5,000 (10 percent).

A preliminary hearing for Campbell is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Feb. 24.

Video posted online claims to show Campbell body slamming the security guard as school let out on Jan. 22. A number of students captured the incident on cell phone cameras.

Wayne Co. Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced the charges Tuesday. She says the officer sustained an open wound to the head during the incident. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Campbell led Cass Tech to back-to-back Division 1 state championship in football in 2011 and 2012. He is a verbal commitment in Michigan State's 2015 recruiting class.

Rivals.com lists Campbell as a four-star recruit.
