PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

Thousands of Diamondbacks fans got to meet their favorite players today at Fan Fest at Chase Field. Fans came out in full swing filing down the stairs and onto the field for the event on Saturday.

"Being able to be on the field already long before April, there's no feeling like it," said Mike Daniels.

The event put the Diamondbacks on display as fans get to interact with players and coaches, the field was also packed full of memorabilia to buy. Diamondback Fans lined up well before the gates opened at 10 a.m. to attend,"Every year we come here, yes we got here at 7 O'Clock this morning," said Christine Clark, a season ticket holder.

"They always have yard sales, autograph sessions, and stuff... meeting with your Diamondback family, meeting with people you get to know over the years," said Gary Carnell.

Officials say that 25-thousand fans were at fan fest last year, more were expected this year. "Huge lines outside I expect for us to get near 30-thosuand fans today, shows how much excitement and support there is for this team," said Derrick Hall, CEO & President of the Diamondbacks.

Many fans, looking forward to getting first baseman Paul Goldschmidt's autograph and checking out the new guys. Outfielder Mark Trumbo was a big hit with the fans. "Trumbo, Trumbo Reed all the new guys," said Daniels. "New players every year, I came to see Trumbo this year," said Clark.

Mike Daniels has hopes for Trumbo this coming season. "Because my dad said he's going to get a lot of home runs," said David Daniels. David Daniels hopes to play for the Diamondbacks someday. "because I have an arm and I can probably throw like Hereda Para," said David Daniels.

From season ticket holders to future all-stars all are hoping the Diamondbacks start off the season swinging for the fences. "Who wouldn't want to be a diamondback fan," sad Rudy Quesada.

If you couldn't make it out to Saturday's event, you can see your favorite players and get some autographs during Spring Training.
