3 wanted in brazen armored car robbery

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - The FBI is hunting three brazen armored car robbers who struck in a midday robbery in Queens on Friday.

Authorities say a GardaWorld armored truck arrived at the HSBC Bank located at 82-57 Broadway.  One of the armed guards entered the bank to make a regularly scheduled pick-up.

As the guard was leaving, he was attacked by three Asian or Hispanic males at gunpoint in the ATM lobby.

As they fled with the cash, they sprayed the guard with mace.

The men were dressed in heavy winter clothes and, after leaving on foot, may have driven away in a navy blue or black Ford Explorer getaway vehicle.

Witnesses told agents that the car was dirty from the winter weather and was missing a front license plate.

The suspects are considered extremely dangerous, according to the FBI.

The FBI thinks the gun shown in the photos from the scene as a .45 semi automatic handgun.

GardaWorld is offering a reward of up to $50,000 in the case.  It did not disclose how much money was stolen.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at (212) 384-1000. The FBI says that tipsters may remain anonymous.

More than half the population of New York City rides public transportation to work. No other metropolis in this country even approaches that percentage or the MTA's total number of riders. For that reason, New York likely ranks as the most energy-efficient city in the nation. But what would it take to make the city even more energy-efficient or even self-sufficient?
