3 valley defense attorneys in the hospital because of the flu virus

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

A valley attorney just released from the hospital after being treated for the flu. He says he may have picked up the flu bug while visiting clients at the jail.

Ted Crews the man FOX 10 spoke to is a defense attorney. He spends a lot of time working face to face with inmates at the jail. He believes he got the flu there and says he is not the only attorney that has gotten sick.

"I'm tired really looking forward to going home" said Ted Crews.

After spending three nights in the hospital defense attorney Ted Crews will be sleeping in his own bed tonight. Like many this year he was suffering from the flu.
It all started two weeks ago after he was diagnosed with pneumonia. "I'd feel good then backslide a little bit" said Crews.

He finally felt well enough to return to work. "I went to the jail a couple of times went to court a couple times". Then a few days later he felt sick again and was diagnosed with type a influenza and was immediately hospitalized. "While I was in there I learned that there was a total of three attorneys that were hospitalized with flu at least one of those was an H1N1"

Crews believes he caught the flu because of his work. "I was at the jail I was in a recovery period I exposed myself at the jail and in court to the in custody defendants"

However, the Maricopa County Department of Health denies the jail is to blame and says there is no correlation between the defense attorney's sicknesses and the jail.
They also say there have not seen an influx in flu cases there and that the same number of patients with the flu in jail is on par with the general population.

While crews was released from the hospital tonight his colleagues still there. "My heart is still very heavy because I'm hearing about colleagues who are in desperate shape from this stuff" said Crews.
