Neighbors chase down cab involved in hit and run

DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

A cab is involved in a hit-and-run accident in Detroit. The cabbie tried to run but some witnesses said, "Not in our neighborhood!" They chased the cab down and made sure he was arrested.

The ovens were loaded with delicious, hot soul food at Ely's Catering on W. 7 Mile. Suddenly, owner Clifton Ely felt and explosion. A white car and another car were stuffed inside the catering business and a cab was running next to the crashed cars. Witnesses next door at a barber shop say the cab slid out of control in the snow, causing the crash.

Gino Wells chased the cab driver who Wells says tried to run from the crash scene. The cab driver was caught and those witnesses called police. Police say they've encountered this cab driver before. One final surprise, two children were riding in the back of the cab.

    The victim of a hit and run accident in Manhattan six weeks ago has died. Charity Hicks had been in a coma since being hit by a car at a bus stop on 10th Avenue May 31st. Hicks was a community activist from Detroit who helped start the anti-water shut off movement.
