California woman watches wildfire near her home from Arizona

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

As flames and thick smoke get closer to Arleen Ruiz's neighborhood in Glendora, California she watches and waits from here in Arizona.

"My daughter called me, woke me up, because she's still on California time saying our neighborhoods on fire" said Ruiz.

All day long Arleen's 17 year-old daughter has been sending her pictures. First flames, then smoke, now ashes and burnt leaves landing on their driveway. Arleen has been getting these texts as she sits by her fathers side at a valley hospital.

On Monday the assisted living facility where her dad lives caught fire and he was badly burned. "I got some serious stuff going on at home and some serious stuff on here so we're kind of stuck in the middle right now" said Ruiz.

Arlene's husband and kids are all back home in Glendora calling Arleen with updates and asking for advice. She's prepared them just in case they have to evacuate.

"I said just take the dogs, the guinea pigs, the cats, the fire box, and the computer because that's where all my pictures are, I don't care about anything else just get out, load up the van and go" said Ruiz.

No matter what happens next she's staying positive and hoping for the best.
