Billy Joel returns to Wrigley Field for summer performance

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Billy Joel is no rookie. In fact, he's played the Friendly Confines before. He returns to Wrigley Field this summer, as the Cubs celebrate 100 years at the stadium.

Live Nation, the world's largest concert producer, made the announcement at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Promoters say that fans of all ages will come to see The Piano Man. Live Nation Executive Jason Wright said that Billy Joel's catalog of music makes him the perfect performer for this venue.

"It is my honor and my privilege to be able to announce today that Billy Joel will be returning to Chicago and playing at Wrigley Field on Friday, July 18, 2014," Wright said Thursday.

Joel played Wrigley Field with Elton John in 2009. Both accomplished pianists went keyboard to keyboard on the outdoor stage. On that Friday night, Joel's repertoire will fill the stadium once again.

Last year, both Pearl Jam and Jason Aldean played at the Chicago Cubs' baseball stadium. Past acts also include Bruce Springsteen and Jimmy Buffett.
