PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

A great-grandmother and three of her great-grandchildren received minor injuries during a house fire on Wednesday morning.

Rickey Sanchez escaped the fire, "In the closet... it just took off, it's all good it went up like that" said Sanchez.

Riceky said there was nothing he could do, the fire that consumed his home grew out of control so quickly everyone inside including his mother, her three great grandchildren, barely escaped.

"I told her to get the kids out while I tried to put it out" described Sanchez.

Multiple 911 calls came in around 3:45 a.m. this morning when they arrived they found the house engulfed in flames and the victims standing outside.

The great grandmother suffered from smoke inhalation and two of the kids had minor burns. Arson investigators were called out to look into reports that a man in his mid 20's who also lived there may have started the fire according to the family.

"My mom told me she said your brother burned down the house... I didn't let her speak, I didn't say nothing, I hung up the phone... I said i'd be right there" said Angel Mejia.

"The last thing we want someone to have is an arson fire because any type of injury... even caused a fatality"said Ruben Saavedra with the Phoenix Fire Department.

A spokesperson for the Phoenix Fire Department tells us there were no smoke detectors inside the home that the family is lucky to have made it out alive.

"My mom got them out and then the neighbors let them stay over there" sand Rickey Sanchez.

Two family dogs died in the fire, authorities say the family was fortunate to make it out alive

Investigators confirm there have been previous fire calls at the home.
