(WJBK) -- Speedskater and Chippewa Valley High School grad Kelly Gunther is ready for the Winter Olympic Games next month.

But the Michigan native's path to reach Sochi was filled with obstacles, including an injury where she nearly lost her foot.

Gunther's inspiring story was recently profiled in USA Today.

On Thursday, she stopped by The Nine to talk about her hometown roots, her goals and the work she's put in to attain them. Click the video player to watch her full interview.
