Water problems force school closures in Polk County

Posted: Updated:
POLK COUNTY, Ga. -

Water supply problems forced students to stay home for a third day in Polk County.

A spokesman for the Polk County Water Authority says electrical issues triggered problems at two of the county's pumps. The result was little to no water for more than 5,000 water customers.

The spokesman says crews are almost finished with their repairs, which means schools will likely reopen tomorrow. Cedartown residents say they're ready to get back to a sense of normal.

The spokesman for the water authority says the water coming from those two pumps is fresh and clean now, but they can't officially lift the boiled water advisory until they get the "all clear" from state.  He's asking folks in Polk County to conserve water until they are certain the pumps are up and running at full capacity.
