Bay heaters malfunctioning at DeKalb Co. fire stations

Posted: Updated:
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

The cold presented some problems at some DeKalb County fire stations on Tuesday.

Fire officials told us there were problems with the bay heaters at stations 8, 20, and 24. Those heaters help keep engine tanks from freezing and firefighters use them to help dry the gear they wear when they fight fires.

Acting chief Norman Augustin told FOX 5's Deidra Dukes they learned of the heater problem in late December. He said the heating problems did not affect the firefighters living quarters or their ability to fight fires.
