PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

A Phoenix mom is behind bars after Phoenix Police say that she used her 11 year-old son to shoplift from a Walmart store.

Joann Thomas was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail on charges of shoplifting and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Authorities say she stole more than $300 worth of merchandise from the Walmart near 35th Avenue and Southern by concealing the stolen items in a baby carrier. Her 11 year-old son was reportedly by her side the whole time and also helped steal items.

Court records show that Thomas was previously arrested for shoplifting in the past five years.
