PHOENIX -

Police have identified a man who was hit and killed after crash sent a car spinning in his direction on Monday night.

A car was heading westbound on Greenway Road when it was hit by another vehicle heading eastbound that failed to yield around 5 p.m. Monday.

The crash in the intersection of 29th Street and Greenway caused the eastbound vehicle to spin out of control and hit a male pedestrian waiting to cross the street on the sidewalk.

Investigators believe the pedestrian may have been pinned between the car and a light pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have identified the pedestrian as 37-year-old Cameron Matthew Hall.

"Wrong place, wrong time," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos.  "Unfortunately, this particular pedestrian didn't do anything wrong.  He was standing on the corner.. presumably waiting for the light to turn so that he could cross the roadway, however this collision occurred in the intersection, causing one of the vehicles to strike him and again sustaining fatal wounds here on scene."

Police say there were only minor injuries to the people in the vehicles involved in the crash. No one was transported to area hospitals.

Officers say impairment wasn't a factor in the collision.
