Party-on-demand service in New York

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

I recently spent an evening with two lovely ladies (guys, eat your heart out) -- not playing ping pong in their office, or lounging in the so-called Buddha Room but talking about Host Committee, a party-on-demand service that's giving New York City nightlife a 21st Century buzz.

Co-creator Carli Roth says the service offers a space for a few hours, open bar, guest list management, and more for $20 a guest.

To be a party host, you sign up on Host Committee's website, or you can find a party and reserve a spot. No long lines, no having to talk your way through the big bouncer behind the velvet rope.

On a recent night, we hit up the Westway in the West Village. This was no night at the Roxbury. There were dancing girls, glow sticks, body painting. (You get the picture.)

This particular party was a fundraiser, spearheaded by the two hosts. It was crowded, and the open bar gets pretty packed.

But I wasn't there to drink, and I'm not much of a clubber, so I was just happy standing in the corner, with my glass of water.

Realty TV star Kim Kardashian probably wished she did have one before she walked down the aisle with Kris Humphries. We might never have known about Tiger Woods' cheating ways if he had one. And figure skater Johnny Weir is insisting on one as part of his post-nuptial agreement. What is it? A digital privacy clause.
