Expert Gives Holiday Travel Tips

When is the best time to travel during the Christmas Holidays? Jennifer Doncsecz from VIP Vacations talked to Good Day and gave some tips.

Traveling December 26th through New Years is the most expensive, so Doncsecz recommends flying on December 23rd, 24th and the 25th.

When it comes to hotels, it is a little tricky. Doncsecz recommends first checking to see if they have minimum stay requirements. Some hotels have three day or five day minimums. Hotels tend to be cheapest December 23 to 25th also.

Doncsecz recommends cruises as a last minute option for a getaway. You might be able to find a cancel on the weekend before New Year. There are lots of cruises that start in NYC or Baltimore. Those are close and accessible.

There are a lot of companies that don't show up on normal search engines like Kayak or Travelocity. Southwest for example, is one of them. Make sure to go to those sites and check their prices.

Remember, the first week of January is such a dead week, so it is cheaper and could be a very good time to travel.
