Glendale Police say a 12-year-old girl who was reported missing Monday morning has been found.
According to police, Sarina Ehler was located by a Maricopa County Sheriff's detective in the area of 219th Avenue and Sun Valley Parkway.
"As the Sheriff's deputy drove home he saw what appeared to
be a young girl pushing a bike into the dark desert area. The deputy
immediately knew that something was not right. He contacted the
young girl at which time she gave him a false name and fabricated a story that
she was almost home. The deputy attempted to take the girl where she said
she lived but quickly realized it was all a made up story. A records
check of the young girl was done and it revealed she was reported missing
from Glendale," stated Deputy Joaquin Enriquez.
Sarina only had a small bottle of water for the long hours she traveled. Enriquez adds that she was in good health.
Earlier in the day, Ehler went to the restroom at her school near 72nd Avenue and Rose Garden Lane, then apparently left the school grounds on her own.
St. Jay O'Neill of the Glendale Police Dept. stated Sarina was disciplined at home Sunday night.
