UPDATE DEC. 16: Police say the father of O'Dell's two-year-old son has confessed to the crime. He is in police custody and will be arraigned on charges.

Original story below.
_______________

Police in Warren say the body of 25-year-old Shalisa O'Dell was found in the home she was renting. She appears to have been beaten to death.

Fox 2's Randy Wimbley reports police say robbery was likely not the motive in the murder and investigators found no signs of forced entry into the home. That's leading investigators to believe she knew her attacker. Medical examiners say she was killed on Friday or Saturday.

Police were called to the home around midday Sunday after a relative caring for the woman's 2-year-old son entered the home after not hearing from her for two days.

O'Dell worked as an exotic dancer at Deja Vu in Highland Park. Police will interview co-workers but they don't believe her job played any role in her death.

Investigators are, however, taking a close look at O'Dell's cell phone records. The phone may have been taken after the attack to hide evidence.
